here comes the mission!
Here we go again another Mission, a couple of weeks of Do - Gooding then
forgotten – maybe, if that’s what you want or we can as a Parish use it in a
positive way and become more open and alive in our belief more welcoming to new
comers, begin to look outwards and not continually inwards.
UNITED IN LOVE
That’s the Mission title. As a Parish we should be United and as a
Parish we should love our neighbour regardless of their faults and foibles.
The Mission is for two weeks and will be distinctly in two parts. The first week will be for the Mission team and others to evangelise to members of our community. To introduce themselves and offer invites to those who perhaps do not come to Mass often for whatever reason.
The second week starts on the middle Saturday of the two week mission with a ‘Social’ that we hope will last most of the day with perhaps a healing Mass in the middle, how’s that for being different! The Social is still very much in embryonic form but the enthusiasm and ideas are there and the rest will come soon, I know.
We then have a week with a difference with things going on every day and for everyone, young, old or in the middle! Details will be given later but believe me it will be exciting, different and ALIVE in a gentle and loving way. Your faith should we hope be revived, renewed and rejuvenated. At the very least you will have had the opportunity to witness faith in action and a love for one another that we hope will continue long after the Mission. From the Tuesday onward the daily themes are:
Tuesday United in Love through Prayer
Wednesday United in Love with our Youth
Thursday United in Love in our lives
Friday United in Love with our community
Very soon you will receive the Mission prayer cards they will be handed out at Mass on 21st and 22nd. April and through the school on the 20th. April. They will be left at the back of the church so even if you cannot get to Mass please just pop your head round the church door and pick a card up. We hope that with the whole parish praying the Mission prayer which I set out below, God will become fed up with being bombarded and grant our wish asked for in that prayer.
Father look in love on our community,
Fill us with your Spirit
Make us a light for others.
Help us to do your work,
Reaching out to those in need.
Renew our faith,
Deepen our understanding of Your truth
So that Your love may live in our lives.
Bring us Peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ Our Lord
